Manager, Systems Engineering

Job Designation The Engineering Systems Manager leads the systems engineering team, overseeing the systems development process and ensuring improvement of existing designs. This includes expertise in requirements management and safety, reliability, and maintainability related activities. Participates in decision making that will have a significant impact on the product. Job Core Responsibilities Leads and directs the systems engineering team. Directs systems design activities to ensure improvement of existing designs, implement new functionality, and reduce costs, providing technical direction and guidance to team members Oversees projects; optimizes product development costs while maintaining budget goals, estimating cost, reliability, and safety factors into designs; manages crisis resolution to ensure continuous flow of product development within designated budget; provides managerial support to the strategic goals Manages staff selection, performance, development, and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities. Mentors and oversees technical and professional development of the Systems Engineering team Other responsibilities as assigned Job Specifications Education:
Post-secondary degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations. Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience is preferred. Years

15 years or more of relevant experience Skills:
Strong ability to lead, plan, and direct a team of systems engineers Strong systems fundamentals, analytical and product development life cycle experience Demonstrated engineering expertise, and ability to improve products or services Ability to plan technical efforts to meet business objectives Strong attention to detail Ability to prioritize with changing situations Strong analytical skills and judgement to proactively identify and solve increasingly complex problems Demonstrated ability to improve products or services by applying professional and business knowledge Ability to absorb and apply new technical information and evaluate implications Ability to effectively communicate difficult concepts Ability to negotiate well with others Ability to explain a range of complex technical information Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task Strong prioritization skills Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and web-browsers Proficient in DOORS and JIRA Experience with ARP 4754A, ARP 4761, DO-178, DO-254, and DO-160
Salary Range:
$250K -- $500K+
Minimum Qualification
Systems Architecture & Engineering, Technology ManagementEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
